What is the difference between hard wax and soft wax?
Hard wax hardens on contact and peels off in one piece without strips. It only grips hair, not skin, so it is gentler and ideal for sensitive areas like Brazilian, bikini, underarm, face, chin and lip. Soft wax stays liquid, is applied thinly and removed with a cotton or muslin strip. It works faster on large areas like legs, arms, back and chest.
Which wax do you use for Brazilian waxing?
For Brazilian and bikini waxing we always use premium hard wax. Hard wax shrink-wraps around coarse hair without sticking to delicate skin, which means significantly less pain and almost no skin lifting. We pre-cleanse, apply, set and remove section by section so the experience stays comfortable throughout.
Is hard wax actually less painful than soft wax?
For most clients, yes — especially in sensitive areas. Hard wax only adheres to the hair, while soft wax adheres to both hair and skin. That difference matters most on Brazilian, bikini, underarm and facial waxing. On legs and arms, where skin is less sensitive, the pain difference is smaller and soft wax is faster.
How long should my hair be before a wax appointment?
Aim for at least 1/4 inch — about the length of a grain of rice, or roughly two weeks of growth after shaving. Too short and the wax cannot grip the hair; too long and the experience is uncomfortable. If unsure, leave it a little long and we will trim during the appointment.
How should I prepare for my appointment?
Avoid retinol or strong exfoliants on the area for 48 hours before. Skip caffeine and alcohol the day of your appointment as both increase skin sensitivity. Gently exfoliate the day before. Avoid sun and tanning beds for 24 hours pre and post wax. Arrive freshly showered.
How do I avoid ingrown hairs after waxing?
Skip hot tubs, saunas and tight clothing for 24 hours. Starting 48 hours after your wax, gently exfoliate the area 2 to 3 times a week with a soft mitt or chemical exfoliant containing salicylic or lactic acid, and moisturize daily. Most ingrowns are caused by friction plus dryness — solving both prevents them.
How often should I get waxed for the smoothest results?
Every 4 to 6 weeks is the sweet spot. With consistent waxing on the same cycle, hair regrows finer and sparser, sessions feel quicker and the smooth window between visits gets longer.
Do you offer waxing for men?
Yes — switch to the Men tab on the pricing list. We cover face (forehead, beard line, between the eyebrow, full face, nose, ears), upper body (chest, full back, shoulders, arms, underarms, neck) and lower body (full legs, half legs). We do not currently offer Brazilian or intimate waxing for men.
